Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata，renowned for its efficacy in restoring yang to rescue from counterflow， warming the center and dissipating cold，and supplementing fire to assisting yang，has been widely utilized in clinical practice by physicians throughout history. Modern studies have revealed its pharmacological actions， including cardiotonic，anti-inflammatory，analgesic，and anti-colitis effects，as well as unique therapeutic benefits for various critical and refractory diseases. This article systematically reviews classical herbal texts on Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata， organizing its historical context through aspects such as nomenclature， botanical origin， geographical distribution，harvesting time，processing methods，and quality evaluation.
